How to Prepare Hojicha

Classic Hojicha 

Ingredients:

  • 1 tsp Hojicha Powder (2 g)

  • 100–120 ml hot water (80°C)

Utensils:

  • Chasen (bamboo whisk)

  • Chawan (bowl)

Preparation:

  1. Soak whisk in warm water to soften.

  2. Sift hojicha powder into a bowl.

  3. Add a splash of hot water. Whisk to a smooth paste.

  4. Gradually add the rest of the water while whisking in W-motion until fine texture and crema form.

  5. Enjoy hot — or pour over ice for a refreshing cold version.

Tip: Add a spoon of honey or coconut milk for extra comfort.

HOJICHA STRAWBERRY ICE LATTE 

Ingredients:

  • 1 tsp Hojicha Powder (2 g)

  • 100–120 ml hot water (80°C)

  • 4–5 fresh strawberries

  • Honey or natural sweetener (optional)

  • 150–200 ml coconut milk

  • Ice cubes

Utensils:

  • Chasen (bamboo whisk)

  • Chawan (bowl)

  • Blender

  • Tall glass

Preparation:

  1. Blend strawberries with honey (if using). Pour into serving glass.

  2. Sift hojicha powder into a bowl. Whisk with hot water until smooth and frothy.

  3. Add coconut milk to the glass.

  4. Pour whisked hojicha gently on top.

  5. Add ice. Stir and enjoy.

A fragrant, refreshing treat — low in caffeine, high in calm. Perfect for warm days or a cozy evening twist.

Ingredients:

  • 1 tsp Hojicha Powder (2 g)

  • 100–120 ml hot water (80°C)

  • 150–200 ml chocolate milk (plant-based or dairy)

  • Honey or natural sweetener (optional)

  • Ice cubes

Utensils:

  • Chasen (bamboo whisk)

  • Chawan (bowl)

  • Tall glass

Preparation:

  1. Soak whisk in warm water to soften.

  2. Sift hojicha powder into a matcha bowl.

  3. Add a splash of hot water and whisk to a smooth paste. Add honey if desired.

  4. Continue whisking as you pour in the rest of the hot water to create a fine texture.

  5. In a tall glass, add a few ice cubes.

  6. Pour in chocolate milk.

  7. Gently pour the hojicha shot on top.

  8. Serve as is or stir to combine. Enjoy.
